We are aware of the impact that the current Covid-19 pandemic is having on all CDP students and co-supervisors as cultural organisations, libraries, archives and Universities close their doors to the public and employees begin remote working.
We are also aware that many of you may be self isolating or not feeling well both physically and mentally.
UKRI issued a statement on the 19th March which outlines more clearly how they plan to support AHRC funded CDP students during this time. You can read the full statement here https://www.ukri.org/news/coronavirus-impact-on-ukri-supported-research/
The section that will most apply to CDP students is ‘Training grants and Students’.
If a CDP student is nearing completion and needs to request an extension, this will be administered by the University with approval from the Partner organisation and the JeS record will also need to be updated. Extensions can be granted without penalty to individuals or research organisation.
CDP studentships allows up to 13 weeks of sick leave as per the terms and conditions of the funding. UKRI will accept any revised Government guidance regarding medical certification. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-employers-and-businesses-about-covid-19/covid-19-guidance-for-employees
We encourage both Partner and University co-supervisors to remain in contact with CDP students. We understand that this may be more difficult with school closures. We understand that meetings will most likely happen online where this is possible for both CDP student and co-supervisors. Please also follow advice coming from your own partner organisation and University.
We would also ask all CDP students to remain in contact with each other via social media, email or phone so that no student feels cut off during this time.
Upcoming CDP cohort Development events, Making Exhibitions and Galleries has been postponed and we will review other future events and meetings too in the coming weeks.
We do not know how the situation will evolve but we are doing our best to keep CDP students and co-supervisors updated. We will need to adapt and support each other through this time.
