Over the past two years CDP student Hannah Manktelow has been based at the British Library’s Printed Heritage Collections team researching the regional spread of Shakespeare performances in the 18th and 19th centuries.
This draws on the British Library’s collection of 234,000 playbills (or theatre posters). Hannah’s research, overseen by the Printed Heritage Collections team, was the inspiration for a new partnership with the BBC called Shakespeare on Tour, which will help build a digital picture of Shakespeare plays performed locally in England from the late buy accutane online fast delivery 18th century onwards. The project will take interesting stories of local or historical interest from the playbills and adapt them for broadcast on the BBC website, local radio and TV next Spring.
This project is part of the BBC’s work with other arts organisations to launch Shakespeare to worldwide audience online: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2015/shakespeare
Hannah has also edited a book that is coming out in 2016 (published by the BL) called The Bard in Brief: Shakespeare in Quotations. See p. 20 of this catalogue for details: http://www.bl.uk/aboutus/publishing/publications-catalogue-spring-2016.pdf
